Cortland Sheriff Warns of Phone Scam

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials are cautioning residents about another phone scam.

Someone has been calling people claiming to be a Deputy and telling them they owed money that could be paid by meeting the caller at a certain location.  The resident is also told if they didn’t pay, they would be arrested.

Authorities say they have gotten several complaints about the male subject demanding money.

Anyone getting similar calls should hang up and notify the police immediately.
