Cortland Man Accused of Raping a Child

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say a Cortland man is accused of having inappropriate contact with a girl under the age of 17.

46 year old John Means is charged with two counts each of rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities say they conducted an investigation based on reports of incidents at the North View Apartments during September and October.

Means was sent to the Cortland County Jail without bail.

The investigation is continuing and officials say more charges are possible.
