A Cortland man is charged with attempted burglary after the manager of the Plaza 6 Cinema on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville said he found him hiding in the theater after it had closed.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the theater at around quarter of one June 3.

The manager told authorities he had closed the theater, securing the office, at around 11 p.m. and left to run some errands. When he got back a few minutes later, he found a man hiding in the office.

After he was confronted, the man ran for a short distance before the manager caught him.

The theater manager identified the suspect as 22 year old Lane Day, let him go before calling officers.

Day was found in his apartment on Groton Avenue about 30 minutes later and taken into custody.

There was apparently nothing missing or damaged as a result of day’s alleged extended stay at Plaza 6 Cinema.

Day was sent to the Cortland County Jail on $5,000 bail.
