The Cornell Big Red started strong and led for over 33 minutes to down the Binghamton  Bearcats women's basketball team on Sunday 54-51 at the Events Center. The Big Red jumped out to a 9-0 lead and led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter.  The Bearcats rallied and trailed 21-19 at the end of the first half.

The Bearcats had a lead for just 1:49 of the game.  With the win Cornell ups its record to 8-4.  Binghamton closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 5-8 slate.

Imani Watkins paced BU in scoring with 13 points.  Rebecca Carmody ended up with 12 points for the Bearcats.  Binghamton went just 3-19 from three-point range shooting 16 percent from beyond the arc.  Alyssa James grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats begin America East play on Wednesday night when they host UMBC.  Tip off is set for 7 PM at the Events Center.  Air if 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
