Prosecutors say Gerald Porter was convicted of second-degree burglary and fifth-degree possession of stolen property.

The Broome County jury reached its verdict Thursday morning.

Authorities say the burglary occurred at a West Side apartment house on August 23 shortly after the body of the resident had been removed.

According to the Broome County District Attorney's Office, sentencing has been scheduled for September 7. Porter faces a maximum of seven to fifteen years in prison because he is a second violent felony offender.
