After months of delays, construction crews are working at the site of a planned hotel in the town of Dickinson.

The Microtel hotel is being built on the site of a former school near Prospect Street and Burbank Avenue. The property is just east of the Airport Road interchange of Route 17.

The developer of the project is James Millett, who lives in the Scranton area. He said the three-story building will have 57 rooms.

Demolition of the old school was completed last winter. Construction of the hotel had been expected to begin in the spring. Millett declined to discuss what delayed the start of construction.

Millett said he now anticipates the hotel will open in the late spring or early summer of next year.

Dickinson town supervisor Michael Marinaccio said he is "very pleased" to see work is underway at the hotel site. He said he had been concerned when construction did not begin earlier this year.
