A groundbreaking ceremony for the $4.3 million project was held in October. The facility is being constructed at the south entrance to the college off Upper Front Street.

The Broome County Industrial Development Agency will be the anchor tenant of the 17,500-square-foot building.

Local economic development officials have said the facility will serve as a one-stop center to encourage collaboration to assist new or expanding businesses.

Stacey Duncan, deputy director of community and economic development for The Agency, said construction on the center is "right on time." She said the heavy snow in March didn't have a big impact on the project.

Duncan said the business center's tenants are expected to be able to move in sometime in August.

The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce and the New York Business Development Corporation are among the organizations planning to have offices in the facility.

The complex will be called the Business Center at Five South College Drive.
