Several property owners are pushing for a re-hearing on a recent ruling allowing the developers of the Constitution natural gas transmission pipeline to access their properties.

The landowners in the Twin Tiers say they are being bullied into accepting low payments and forced access to their properties.

At a Binghamton news conference, a gathering of farmers, small business owners and residents said the judicial ruling from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that would allow developers to forcibly take land to develop the gas line would cause them financial losses as well as endanger the environment and residents’ health.

The 124 mile Constitution Pipeline is to transport natural gas from the Marcellus Shale developments in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania to customers in New York and other parts of New England.

The Commission ruled that Williams and Cabot Oil and Gas had filed all the necessary applications and the development would provide a public benefit.
