Conklin Mining Proposal Delayed

The Town of Conklin is delaying action on a request for a mining permit in order to get additional information.

A public hearing was held to talk about the application for a coal mining operation on Montrose Drive submitted by M-S Contracting LLC, which is associated with Bailey Mine in Pennsylvania.

Broome County officials asked the town to delay to get more information on impact to noise, traffic and air quality.

The Town Board delayed action on the application and officials say another public hearing will be held later.
