A Bradford County man is reporting being taken to the cleaners in a computer cleaning scam.

Pennsylvania State Police say between February and the beginning of this month a 68 year old Windham Township man was the victim of the scam in which a pop up on his computer informed him a company could clear viruses out of his system for $300.

After being contacted for the service, the company called the man back saying they couldn’t fix the problem and tried to put his $300 back in his account.  They claimed, however, they had accidently deposited $2,600 and asked the man to send them back $2,300 in an international money order to make up for the mistake.

The victim found no money had been deposited in the bank.

The investigation is continuing.
