The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier is hosting its annual Color Run in April, which is a fun, fund-raiser for MHAST with the message of maintaining a healthy attitude.

Speaking on the March 25 edition of the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, Joanne Weir of MHAST talks about the preparation for the April 2nd run at SUNY Broome Community College where runners have colored corn starch thrown on them.

Weir says while the Color Run is operated by a business, the event is geared to raise money for not-for-profits.

Thousands of people have already signed up to participate but more volunteers are needed to hand out packets April 1st and for various tasks the day of the run.

People can find out more about the run or register to volunteer by going online to www.thecolorrun.com/binghamton.

Weir can be contacted by calling (607) 771-8888 x336.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. at News Radio 1290 WNBF.
