New York State Police say a Colesville man almost hit a pedestrian as he tried to get away from authorities on an all terrain vehicle at 8:54 p.m. July 12.

24 year old James Joyce reportedly was seen passing an ambulance traveling with its emergency lights activated, driving over a double yellow line and almost hitting a pedestrian on State Route 7 in Unadilla.

A trooper said Joyce was also observed committing several traffic violations on the ATV has he entered the Town of Bainbridge.

The chase ended when Joyce drove onto railroad tracks then tipped AT over when he tried to get back on the roadway.

Joyce was not injured.

He’s charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment as well as being handed over a dozen traffic tickets.

He was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $2,500 bail.
