The National Weather Service is cautioning that there could be a little snow in the region with squalls reducing visibility plus a blast of arctic air moving in.

The cold spell is expected to bring wind chill readings of at least the teens to 20s below zero by February 13.

Pet owners are reminded to make sure their animals are kept inside out of the cold and provided with plenty of bedding, food and water.

Residents venturing out this weekend are being told to dress in layers and remember mittens keep hands warmer than gloves.

Limit time outdoors and avoid strenuous activity, including outdoor exercise without taking proper precautions, like covering noses and mouths to keep lungs from being exposed to bitterly cold air.
