The New York State Police say they are continuing the search for the escapees from the Clinton Correctional Facility in northern New York.

David Sweat, who murdered a Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy, and Richard Matt, who killed and dismembered a former employer, broke out of the maximum security facility June 6.

State Police say law enforcement officials are checking seasonal camps and abandoned buildings, sweeping trails and railroad beds and urge the public to remain vigilant.  Authorities concede the murderers may have moved out of the Dannemora area.

Police are asking homeowners and hunters who have video surveillance and/or trail cameras in northern New York to check their footage for any suspicious activity since June 6.  If any suspicious images are captured, they should call the tip line: 1-800-GIVETIP.

Authorities say more than 600 officers and K9 units from various agencies as well as aircraft are involved in the search and as of yesterday, more than 1,500 leads have been generated.

The State Police have patrols in the communities surrounding the prison, operating 24 hours a day.
