People passing by the Skyline Drive State Forest in Kirkwood September 24 don’t have to be concerned about an increase in activity around that area.  The Civil Air Patrol group was conducting search and rescue training.

About 20 members of the South Central Group started with a briefing September 23 and moved on to honing skills through classroom and hands-on instruction.

The six new members of the group received trainee status for the Ground Team at the end of the day.

Sunday, a simulated missing person drill was conducted with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers at the state forest in Kirkwood.

The group moved on later Sunday to perform aerial search and rescue techniques out of the Greater Binghamton Airport.
