Binghamton officials have announced the launch of an 18-month community effort in creating a long term vision and action plan for the city.

On Friday, March 1st, from 3-9 p.m., "Blueprint Binghamton: Forward Together"  will have its grand opening at the former First National Bank, 49 Court Street, unveiling a project design studio. The city will use the design studio as a way to solicit ideas from citizens, share project updates and progress, and host interactive and educational activities related to ongoing efforts, including: Design A Banner Contest, art exhibit, "There's a Fine Line..." by Quarter Yellow Studios, and Blueprint Binghamton: Community Discussions.

In October 2011, Binghamton won a major grant award of nearly $500,000 from U.S. HUD's Partnership for Sustainable Communities. The HUD award will cover the costs of consulting and design firms, including Interface Studio, Shumaker Engineering, and Vibrant Creative.
