Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say a Cincinnatus man is accused of becoming so angry at a person doing excavating work on Hubbards Hill Road in the Town of Taylor that he threw a rock at the worker, hitting the bulldozer operator in the head.

45 year old Russell Hyer reportedly told the worker not to bother to call authorities because he was a police officer. He then fled the scene before the real police arrived.

He was arrested at 6:20 p.m. July 11 for the incident reported about 24 hours earlier but not before Deputies say he struggled with them.

Hyer is charged with criminal impersonation, harassment and resisting arrest.

He was sent to the Cortland County Jail on no bail.
