The Chris Thater Memorial Races speed through downtown Binghamton starting August 22.

On-street parking restrictions are in effect.

For motorists wishing to access the downtown district through August 23, be aware many of the main and side streets will be closed as they are part of the bicycle race course.

Activities get underway at 10 a.m. the 22nd with the Patrolman Lee Barta Challenge, followed by the first of 18 cycling events starting at 10:30.  The final event of the day is the men’s pro race at 8 p.m. that finish under a lighted course around the center of downtown Binghamton.

Events resume at 8:30 a.m. August 24 with men and women’s public cycling races.

Free parking is being made available at city parking garages through the weekend.

The detours around the streets being used for the races are to be marked with signage and safety personnel will help to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
