Chris Thater Memorial Set For This Weekend

The 30th Annual Chris Thater Memorial Races and Music Festival will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Recreation Park on Binghamton's Westside.  The event features several long distance runs plus professional women's and men's cycling races.

The first event is scheduled for 9:30 AM on Saturday.  It is the Master Men 55 plus and 60 plus competition.  Set for a 10 AM opening is the Outdoor Expo along with with music from the Miles Ahead Jazz Quartet.

Other events throughout Saturday feature the USA Cycling Pro Women's race at 5:00 PM and a Cycling Skills Clinic at 5:10 PM.  The clinic is designed as a fun and educational activity for kids of various levels of bike riding experience.

On Sunday the Chris Thater Memorial 5K Run will be held at 10:00 AM followed by the Chris Thater Memorial Kids Run at 10:45 AM.  In the adult race there is expected to be over 600 local entrants along with 40 elite runners from at least one dozen countries.   At 12:30 PM the Men Pro/1/U23 cycling race will be held featuring over 75 professional riders from all over the world.  At stake is $15,500 in prize money.
