A major employer in the Southern Tier and Central New York says it has to cut some jobs.

Chenango county-based Chobani Greek Yogurt says it is restructuring following an evaluation of business operations.

While the company says it plans to introduce new products next month, officials said that it had to reduce some positions in New Berlin and temporary jobs in the larger facility it recently opened in South Edmeston, Idaho.

A statement from the Chobani said it is a young company that grew very quickly, prompting an examination of its original structure.

The statement did not reveal just how many jobs were being cut.

While Chobani vows to continue be home for  East Coast operations, it is also looking to expand internationally into the Caribbean and Latin America.
