A non-jury trial is underway for a Binghamton dance teacher who is accused of sexually assaulting a child.

A conviction on a predatory sexual assault charge against Samantha Werkheiser of Waverly, also known as Samantha Stone, was overturned in 2015.

Werkheiser had been sentenced to 12 years to life in prison in 2013 for the alleged assault on a six year old girl in Binghamton.

Werkheiser’s partner, Julie Werkheiser was convicted of sexually abusing two children at a separate dance studio in Waverly.

The victim is now 18 years old and took the stand to tell the judge of what she said was the horror that took place at the home in Binghamton.

There had been some question about the victim’s memory of alleged incidents so many years ago and the number of years that passed until a report was filed.
