The New York State Attorney General’s office is leveling charges against the owner of a dairy farm in Homer following the death of a 14 year old worker last year.

Luke Park, owner of Park Family farm, is being charged with falsifying business records and violation of child labor laws after Alex Smith was crushed under a hydraulic lift.

8 felony and 7 misdemeanor charges have been filed.

Authorities say the teen was legally not supposed to be operating that type of equipment.

Park is accused of hiring several children on his farm, working them for more than the 48 hour a week limit for 16 and 17 year olds and falsifying the farm business records to cover up the violations.

Park is due back in court next month.
