Dave Hamburg of the New York Department of Transportation says that Chenango Street in Binghamton has re-opened to pedestrian and vehicle traffic ahead of schedule.

Hamburg told WNBF News that the section of Chenango Street that passes under Interstate 81 reopened to pedestrians at 2PM and to vehicles at 2:30PM on Friday afternoon, hours before the work was scheduled to be completed.

Due to continued bridge work as part of the Kamikaze Curve reconstruction project, the DOT may have to close that stretch of Chenango Street to cars and people in the future.  Shuttle busses were provided to help ease the inconvenience of the closing.
