Travelers in Binghamton got some good news this afternoon.  Chenango Street has re-opened between Moffatt Avenue and Sturges Street after concrete arches for the Interstate 81 North/State Route 17 West bridge were put in place. The New York State Department of Transportation had planned to have that phase of the project completed by Saturday at noon but with the help of dry weather completed it almost 24 hours early.

The recently completed project involved placing two massive concrete arches over Chenango Street.  It's part of the overall work being done on the Prospect Mountain Project.  The New York State Department of Transportation had provided shuttle bus service for pedestrians and bicyclists to move safely around the construction zone during the street closure which began yesterday at 6 AM.
