Chenango Place was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week in downtown Binghamton.  Located at 7 Court Street in Binghamton Chenango Place overlooks the Chenango River near the Court Street Bridge.

Chenango Place provides housing for 176 Binghamton University students and offers a modern, full-service living experience.  Chenango Place is located in the former Fair Store in a building that was constructed in 1886. One Wall Street Associates purchased the building and began renovations last Fall.  The owners are former Binghamton University students.

After taking a tour of the building and seeing what it has to offer I must admit I would be tempted to skip class, stay over school vacations and just enjoy living there.  It has come a long way from the building's days as the Fair Store.

The four-story structure has rooms that vary from studio apartments up to six bedrooms.  Included in the monthly rent that can run as high as $1,000 per person are numerous amenities.  They offer 24-hour security, a private theater complete with individual leather chairs, study lounges and a gymnasium.

The lobby and entrance are beautifully done and you get the feeling that you are entering a fine hotel and not student housing.  The entrance faces the Chenango River offering a pleasant view looking out onto the walkway.  There are plans to expand the complex and to add stores and perhaps a restaurant and coffee shop.

Chenango Place is already taking applications for residents for the 2015-2016 school year.  Additional information is available at www.chenangoplace.com.
