The Chenango Forks Blue Devils finished with a 12-1 record last season on the way to a state title and they looked like there was no off-season as they crushed Johnson City 49-6 today at Forks Stadium in the season opener for both teams. The Blue Devils were up 42-0 at the end of the first half.

Three interceptions plagued the Wildcats in their comeback efforts.  Forks Fullback Ryan Bronson was superb.  He scored three touchdowns and was a force at linebacker on the swarming Blue Devils' defense.  He left late in the first half with an apparent ankle injury and although still in uniform did not return to action in the second half.

Chenango Forks used a well-balanced running attack pounding the middle with Bronson and then using the speed of Cody Lamond and L.J. Watson  to rack up considerable yardage outside.  Senior quarterback Jack Sherwood also looked sharp doubling as a defensive back on defense.

For the Wildcats running back Stephon McDonald was their most productive offensive player while tight end Adam Korutz made a couple of nice catches from quarterback Jake Thompson.

Next week the Wildcats travel to Chenango Valley while the Blue Devils are home to host Tioga which was the only team to defeat them last season.
