A federal grant will help pay for some repair work to railroad lines in Chenango County.

Congressman Richard Hanna says the Economic Development Administration will provide $4.7 million dollars to fix sections of the rail system damaged by flooding in 2006 and 2011.

The Chenango County Industrial Development Agency is expected to oversee repairs to more than 45 miles of rail line.

Hanna says the money will enable Chenango County industries to make use of the rail network again.
