Felony charges are filed against a Cortland County man in connection with an incident in which another hunter in the Town of Willet was shot and wounded on December 6.

Sheriff’s Investigators say a re-interview of 53 year old Michael Quail of Marathon led to Quail being charged with felony reckless endangerment and assault.

24 year old William Cobb of Willet was treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and released from the hospital.

Investigators say Quail and Cobb were both hunting near Route 221 and Fish Hill Road but the men were not together and Quail said he didn’t know Cobb was hunting nearby when he fired a single round.

Quail was released on his own recognizance and is to appear in Town of Willet Court at a later date.
