Union-Endicott graduate Chandler Jones has been traded from the New England Patriots to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round draft pick this spring.  Jones, who is an explosive pass-rusher, was New England's top draft pick in 2012 and registered 12.5 sacks this past season.  Jones was a standout athlete at U-E and played three seasons at Syracuse before opting to enter the 2012 NFL Draft.  He was a first-round pick (21st overall) of the New Patriots where he has been a defensive stalwart.

Cooper was a first-round draft selection for the Cardinals in 2014. He has been hampered by injuries including a broken leg.  He was considered an outstanding pass protector coming into the NFL.  The Patriots now have a pair of second round picks coming up in the 2016 NFL Draft.
