Carmody Named AE Rookie of the Week

Binghamton Bearcat freshman guard Rebecca Carmody has been honored as the America East Rookie of the Week after an outstanding showing at the University of Michigan November 14.

Carmody scored 17 points in her Division I debut against the Wolverines, a team that went to the WNIT semifinals last season.  In addition to her 17 points Carmody grabbed seven rebounds and led the team in assists with five.

Carmody comes to the Bearcats from Western Wayne High School in Waymart, Pa. where she was a three-time All-Lackawanna League selection.  In her senior season she averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.

Fans will be able to meet Rebecca November 19 night from 7- 8 at Food & Fire, Harry L Drive in Johnson City when she appears as a guest on the Horizons Federal Credit Union Binghamton Basketball Radio Show.  Fans will also be able to meet the Bearcats head women's coach Linda Cimino and head men's coach Tommy Dempsey who join host Roger Neel for the weekly broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF and online at wnbf.com.
