The New York State Police and state Thruway Authority are issuing an 'Antler Alert' to warn motorists that the deer are more active now and are posing a hazard on the state's roads.

Authorities are warning drivers to be more attentive of deer that may be along the road.

Crashes involving deer and vehicles peak in New York between October and December and most occur around sunrise and sunset.

Motorists should also be aware that if they see one deer, there most likely are more nearby.
