A Town of Chenango woman is recovering from injuries suffered when she reportedly pulled into the path of an ambulance that was enroute to an emergency call in Port Crane.

Broome County Sheriff's officials say 37 year old Heather Wiggins is being ticketed for pulling into the path of the Town of Chenango ambulance on Front street in front of the Weis Plaza shortly before 2:30 p.m. May 5.

Deputies say the car's airbags deployed and Wiggins was pinned in her vehicle for a time before emergency medical responders were able to free her. Officials say the car's airbags may have saved Wiggins' life.

The woman suffered a leg injury as well as a cut to the face and ahip injury.

The ambulance crew was said to be shaken up but otherwise unhurt.

The crash closed a portion of Front Street in the vicinity for about an hour.

Wiggins was ticketed for failure to comply with an emergency vehicle.
