In spite of allegations of influence-peddling and health issues,  New York State Senator Thomas Libous is poised to seek another term.

In a statement released by Senator Libous’ office, a spokesman said “Senator Libous has served the residents of the Southern Tier with honesty and integrity for the past 26 years."  "He's innocent and he'll run for re-election."

But, a Candor man who co-owns an electronics manufacturing company in Ithaca announced he plans to challenge Libous in a Republican primary.

Denver Jones says his team is still working to collect the necessary petition signatures to get on the ballot.  Those are due next week.

Broome County Democratic Committee Chairman, James Testani says he had given up trying to get a candidate to challenge Libous with no one coming forward for several months.

He says once news of the indictment broke of the indictment, he had calls from at least three potential challengers and the Democrats will back former Vestal Town Supervisor Andrea Stazak to challenge the 61 year old long-time Binghamton Senator.
