Bus Service Restored in Tioga County

Tioga Countyresidents will be able to get public transportation to things like doctor appointments in spite of the discontinuation of the Ride Tioga bus service.

County officials say Chemung County is extending its public transportation service to help keep some of the Tioga County bus routes, but with fewer runs between Owego and Waverly.

The C-TRAN trial deal was announced December 3.

The Tioga County Legislature voted to discontinue Ride Tioga after the federal reimbursement for transportation of Medicaid patients changed, leaving the county without the money to continue the bus service.

Under the new program, there will be three runs starting in Elmira and ending in Owego with a final run of the day at 4:30 p.m. between Elmira and Sayre, Pennsylvania.
