Binghamton University's standout Track & Field athlete Jesse Garn will participate in the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials that begin on Friday in Eugene, Oregon.  Garn, a three-time All-American for the Bearcats, will compete in the 800 event.

Garn qualified by running a time of 1:47:35 which is the 30th-best time recorded by American runners this year.  The first round of the 800 will be held at 7:15 PM Eastern Standard Time on Friday.  Round two will be held Saturday afternoon.

In a press release from Binghamton University Garn says" this is the icing on the cake of my career at Binghamton.  To represent the University at the U.S.Olympic Trials is an honor."

Garn, who recently graduated from Binghamton, becomes the third Bearcat to qualify for the Olympic Trials.  Rory Quiller competed in pole vault competition in 2008 and 2012. Quiller  finished eighth in 2012.  Erik Van Ingen finished 27th in the 1,500 in 2012 as well.

Garn was a first-team All-American and garnered two Honorable Mention All-American honors as a Bearcat.  The top three qualifiers will move on to compete in the Olympic Games in Brazil in August.
