Harpursville Central School District officials say a school bus was struck by a bullet on Wednesday (March 16).

According to a statement released by the district, a bullet hit the body of a "late-run" bus while it was taking students home on Colesville Road around 5:30 p.m.

School officials say although there were no injuries, the incident was "very concerning and unnerving." They say they do not believe it was an intentional act.

The officials commended bus driver Derek Brown for getting the students home safely and helping to keep everyone calm after the incident.

The incident was reported to New York State Police. According to the school district statement, investigators do not consider the incident to have been malicious.
