Officials in Cortland County are looking for information about a fire overnight April 16 that heavily a vacant motel on Route 11 in Homer.

Investigators say the fire at the Budget Inn has been labeled suspicious.

The blaze caused major damage to the portion of the motel where individual rooms are separate from the office area as well as the office and manager’s living area.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say the buildings have been vacant for several months.

Officials say the road around the hotel was closed for about four hours as crews worked at the scene from about 8:30 p.m. until 6 Friday morning.
