The Binghamton Bearcats and Albany Great Danes are fighting it out for first place in softball in America East.  Today in Albany the teams split a doubleheader.  The Bearcats won the opener 10-8 but dropped the nightcap 10-2.  Albany maintains a slim lead for first place with a record of 10-2.   Binghamton is right behind at 11-3 in America East action.

In the first game Griffin McIver continued her torrid hitting with her conference-leading 13th home run of the season.  She drove in three runs in the contest.  Sarah Miller earned the win on the mound with relief help from Cara Martin.  Miller is now 13-6 this season.

In the nightcap Albany earned the split defeating starter Martin who falls to 9-4.  The two teams are scheduled to play the third game in the series at noon on Sunday in Albany.
