The Decker School of Nursing at Binghamton University has received a sizeable grant to fund training in the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program.  According to a press release from the Office of Communications at Binghamton University the project will increase the rate of placing nurses into under-served and rural areas.

According to the release the grant was secured with the help of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and totals $350,000.  The funding will be used to speed the training process and graduation time.  It will also be utilized to increase the number of minorities, veterans and residents of rural areas who enter and graduate from the program.

Seventeen students have already been selected for this nursing program.  Registration begins in July with the project in place during the upcoming school year.
