The Binghamton Bearcats defeated the Albany Great Danes for the first time in the last 15 meetings with a 79-66 decision at the Events Center in Vestal.  Prior to last night Albany had defeated Binghamton 14 consecutive times.  Willie Rodriguez led the Bearcats in scoring with 20 points on a six for eight shooting night.  He also made six of seven free throw attempts.

The Bearcats and Great Danes battled on even ground in the first half with BU leading 29-28 at the end of the first 20 minutes.  The second half belonged to Binghamton as the Bearcats outscored the Great Danes 50-38.  The Bearcats shot 58 percent from the field in the second half including making four of six tries from three-point range.

Other Bearcats hitting double figures included Timmy Rose with 13 points, J.C. Show with 11 and Fard Muhammad with 10.  Travis Charles paced Albany with 17 points while Grieg Stire added 14 more.

The win was the first America East victory for the Bearcats who are now 1-3 and 10-9 overall.  Albany drops to 2-3 in conference action and 14-6 overall.  Binghamton heads to Stony Brook for a game on Thursdsay night at 7 PM (air at 645 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
