The Binghamton Bearcats ran into one tough Atlantic 10 basketball team last night in Richmond, Virginia.  The Virginia Commonwealth University Rams crushed the Bearcats 81-42.  The Rams had four players score in double figures.  De'Riante Jenkins led all scorers with 14 points including four three-point baskets.  Freshman Fard Muhammad was the only Bearcat to reach double digits with ten points.

VCU's tenacious defense forced 18 Bearcat turnovers yielding 22 points.  The Rams hit 11 of 20 three-point shots for a 55 percent clip.  Overall, the winners hit on 56 percent from the field.

VCU outscored Binghamton 35-16 in the first half and by a 46-26 margin in the second half.  Binghamton's Preseason First Team All-Conference selection, Willie Rodriguez, did not dress for the game.  He is still plagued by a hamstring injury.  Justin McFadden was also sidelined after experiencing concussion-like symptoms.

The Bearcats depart on a four-game road trip to Florida that begins on Tuesday night.  Binghamton meets Ave Maria University on Tuesday night.  Air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
