In its continuing efforts to ensure that the school's fraternities and sororities are safe and performing respectful pledging activities, Binghamton University has uncovered a report of underage alcohol consumption involving members of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity.  This would be a violation of the school's hazing policy.

B.U. is currently investigating the incident and is cooperating with the Binghamton Police Department.  The national chapter of Alpha Chi Rho is also lending its support to the investigation.

Additionally, Binghamton University in conjunction with the national organization of Zeta Beta Tau is in the process of terminating their recognition of the fraternity.  The local chapter has not paid its dues to the national chapter.  Upon withdrawal of recognition, all chapter operations must cease and all campus privileges and University permission of the chapter to function are revoked.

Binghamton University will continue to promptly identify and respond to situations that compromise student safety.  If anyone has information about hazing activity please contact the New York State University Police at 607.777.2393.
