Binghamton University Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott says he is excited about the selection of the new women's basketball coach at Binghamton University. Elliott spoke with media members earlier this week about the announcement of Bethann Shapiro Ord as the new head women's basketball coach.  The University is holding an afternoon press conference on Friday to introduce her to staff members and the media.

Speaking earlier this week the BU athletic director said "we got a great deal of interest" when word  that former coach Linda Cimino had resigned her position to take the coaching job at St. Francis of NY.  Elliott said Binghamton's new coach who is originally from Rochester and played at UMBC "knows what we're about".  He says that the women's basketball program under Cimino's leadership has positioned itself to be in the top half of the America East Conference. Now, Elliott says "how do we strive for the next level which is a championship ?"

Ord played a season at Monroe Community College before playing three seasons at UMBC.  She also coached at Nazareth College as she began her coaching career.
