Tim Sinicki's Binghamton Bearcats baseball team is closing in on opening day on Friday in Albuquerque, New Mexico where it is expected to be sunny with a high of 62 by mid-afternoon.  The Bearcats open the 2017 season with three games against New Mexico University this upcoming weekend.

Following the trip to New Mexico Binghamton will hope for more mild weather the next two weekends as the Bearcats travel to Richmond, Va. February 24 - 27 and then on to Blacksburg, Va for another three-game series on the first weekend in March.

Last year the Bearcats won both the America East regular season and post-season tournament and went on to play in the NCAA tournament.  In the annual America East Preseason Coach's Poll the opposing coaches have picked the Bearcats as the favorite again.

Despite recent wintry weather the Bearcats were able to get out on their new Field Turf stadium to practice on February 8.  Binghamton features the return of six all-conference players including Union-Endicott grad C.J. Krowiak.  Krowiak was a unanimous pick in centerfield.
