Broome County's central library is getting a new name.

The facility on Court Street in downtown Binghamton is being named the “Jeffrey P. Kraham Broome County Public Library”, after former County Executive Jeffrey Kraham.

County leaders say Kraham was instrumental in getting a new public library built in Binghamton.

Kraham served on the Broome County Legislature from 1977 to 1990 and, at the age of 31, was the youngest county legislative chairman in New York State history.

Kraham was Broome County Executive from 1997 to 2004.
