Speaking on the February 22 edition of the local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, Chairman of the 2014 Earth Fest in Broome County, Chris Burger says vendors are currently being sought for the celebration of Mother Earth April 26 at SUNY Broome Community College in the Town of Dickinson.

Earth Fest, sponsored by Earth Day Southern Tier is one of the longest-running celebrations of Earth Day in the nation, starting, along with Earth Fests around the country in 1990 on the 20th anniversary of Earth Day.

Burger says after that first event, held at Ross Park Zoo, organizers decided to just keep going.  There has been only one year when the festival was not held and that was in 2012, following the 2011 flood.

There are varying levels of exhibitor space available for this year's event.

Again this year, there will be a free trolley taking festival goers between the Front Street Campus, Roberson Museum and Science Center on Front Street and the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park and the Discovery Center on Morgan Road.

More information about Earth Fest can be heard on Southern Tier Close Up and at Earth Day Southern Tier, Inc.'s website www.myedst.org. Exhibitor information and reservations forms are also available at  the website.

Southern Tier Close Up airs Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
