Broome Voters Make Primary Choices
Turnout for primary election contests across Broome County on Thursday was light.
Anthony Fiala had the lead over Robert Weslar in the Democratic primary in the newly-drawn 13th Broome County legislative district.
With seven of the eight machines tallied in the district, Fiala was ahead of Weslar by a 145-to-100 margin.
In the 8th county legislative district, incumbent Republican John Black defeated Christopher DelBianco in the party primary, 329-to-71.
Broome County Executive Debra Preston received 472 votes in a primary for the Independence party line in the November 6 general election.
Tarik Abdelazim mounted a write-in campaign in the primary. Write-in votes are to be counted next week.
