The annual Broome Sports Foundation Sports Collectibles Auction continues tonight at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.  Money raised through this auction benefits the Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Tommy Mitchell was an outstanding young hockey player who was tragically killled in a car crash on his way to a youth hockey game.  The scholarship created in his memory goes to outstanding student athletes in the Greater Binghamton area.

The Tommy Mitchell Memorial Sholarships are administered through the Broome Sports Foundation.  The group has awarded over $150,000 to outstanding areas student athletes who want to further their education.

There are dozens of items up for bid.  Autographed photos and jerseys highlight the selection.  As a special treat a number of items are available from the Hans Peterson Collection.  Hans' known as "Chicken Man" by fans and players alike, was a legendary hockey fan who loved to cheer on Binghamton teams and rattle opponents and officials as well.  Hans passed away in 2011 and his family donated hundreds of souvenirs and.collectibles to the Broome Sports Foundation.
