Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies say a call saying there was a bomb at the Dollar General in the Town of Maine was a hoax.

The caller told store employees that there was a bomb inside the Main Street store and if they called police, he would blow up the building and shoot the police responding to the scene.

The man on the phone also wanted the account numbers of some pre-paid credit cards.

Once Deputies arrived on the scene, they determined there was no bomb and the call was a scam.

The store was then able to resume normal operations.

The investigation is continuing.
