Broome County is relaunching its prescription discount card program that was first introduced in 2009.

County officials say since it started, the ProAct Prescription Discount Card program has been used to fill over 210,000 prescriptions and save $7.7 million.

The program is aimed at uninsured or underinsured residents, regardless of age or income and offers reduced rates on medications at local pharmacies.

There is no membership or use fee.

Pro Act Incorporated has started sending new prescription drug cards to everyone in Broome County.

Information on participating pharmacies and prescription costs can be found at www.NYRxDiscountCard.com.
